5 Ways To Read More Often

The summer is drawing to a close and you still haven't finished that list of summer reading books. At this point you may even be asking how it would have been possible - summer camp, family vacation, and appointments can quickly fill the time, leaving you with little but a stack of unread library books to renew . . . and renew . . . and finally return. But before you make the trip to the library book drop, check out these 5 great ways to fit reading into your busy schedule!

Chapter by Chapter

If you can't fit a block of reading time into your daily schedule, break up the book into manageable sections. Try reading a chapter each night before bed or 5 pages during lunch break.

Read on the Go

Think outside the box and bring a book anywhere you are likely to be waiting for a long time. Airports, doctors' offices, and long lines are just a few.

Challenge a Friend

You might not have the time to join a book club, but if you have a friend with similar goals, you can hold one another accountable. Set manageable goals and schedule a check-in time to compare progress.

Try a New Genre

If your "someday" reading list seems daunting, set it aside and start fresh with a new title that interests you. Once you've developed the habit of reading, revisit your list - or keep reading your new favorite genre instead!

Audiobooks

I saved this for last as it's my favorite. Listening to a recorded book doesn't have to cut into your busy schedule or productivity at all. You can listen to an audiobook almost anywhere. Even mundane chores become epic when you are immersed in a good book!

Try one - or all - of these ideas to jumpstart your summer (or anytime) reading habit. What will you read today?
