Last Day in Brisbane
As it was my last full day in Brisbane, I began the day early with a walk first to a local coffee shop across the street that I hadn’t yet tried, then a walk to the Hawthorne ferry terminal. I rode the ferry all the way to South Bank and explored a slightly different section that I’d run out of time to see the last time I was there. Even if I’d had a month, I probably would still feel lost in a city the size of Brisbane, but it was nice to spend the time I had.
In the day’s travels, I found a nice gift shop, plenty of fascinating architecture, and a secondhand store with a surprising find—the second volume of “The Bible Story” with Basil Wolverton illustrations—which I obviously bought!
My last stop was at Woolworth’s to stock up on groceries, and the walk back to the ferry was slow-going because a tub of yogurt (or should I say “yoghurt”) and bag of mandarin oranges, among other items, are surprisingly heavy when carried halfway across town!
When I got home, it was still fairly early, so I ate a quick snack and rested for a bit, then went out exploring again. I found a small bakery and stopped there for a cheese roll and fried rice. It was a long walk back, but I got back to the AirBnb just in time before the rain started. I spent the evening mostly packing for the drive to the Feast site the following day and carving out some time to write.
I'll be back to Brisbane on the return journey when I drive back to the airport, but the rest of the trip will be up at the Feast site on the Sunshine Coast!
